April 2017

Big things happened this month… Read below.

ACCEPTANCE! My dark historical fantasy, The Devil You Know, is going to appear in Pole to Pole Publishing’s newest anthology, Dark Luminous Wings! I’m absolutely thrilled. I’ve also seen some familiar names on the list of contributors and it’s an honour to be sharing another Table of Contents with such wonderful authors. Big thanks to the editors! Also…

A few weeks back I sent an entry into the Felix Dennis Creative Writing Competition (which is the annual short story competition for the Stratford-Upon-Avon Literary Festival). This year’s theme was ‘Sharing Stories’. I had an idea, but it was so close to the deadline when I saw the competition that I didn’t think anything I wrote would be good enough given the time-limit. But apparently I was wrong! Because my story, Weave us A Way – a fantasy about a world where girls have their futures woven into sashes – was Highly Commended! It, along with the winning and shortlisted entries, is gracing the pages of the Festival Book, which will be available from the SUA Waterstones for a limited time. And that store… well, it might not be right next to Shakespeare’s house, but it’s pretty damn close! So I’ve been beaming ever since. And a few weeks later, my mum and I decided to go on a road trip down there. We went to see it in SUA Waterstones first hand! It’s the first time I’ve seen my work in an actual book-store, so that was a big thrill. The staff there were very nice and let me take photos. We had a great day out doing the Shakespeare tour too.
